What I want to know is if the argentinians get directly to the point or are they at least subtle? I live in Spain and while the men do not seem as sexist, they are very very direct. When the vultures swoop in, my lord, it is hard to get rid of them. After 9 years, me hago la española! While it is positive to be yourself, I think it is equally important to acquire cultural competence, and in these cases, the icy look works quite well!! jeje!

Hmmm! I wonder when no actually means no. Your hairdresser may be right. Putting on a chilly front may save you a lot of hassle.
The Englishwomen here can be icy, and I think that is to avoid familiarity. It goes a bit against the grain if one is American, but I am getting used to it and now starting to apply it myself on occasion. I don't feel the need to be everyone's friend and try to avoid unwanted attention, especially from men.
I think if a man is going to argue with you about sleeping together when you have just met, then it is certainly time to move on from that and turn your back on him. You don't owe anyone any explanations.
